Hyderabad: With the latest revision, the LPG price in the city breached the Rs 1,000-mark, making it the second highest in the country, only after Patna. Price of non-subsidized 14.2 kg of domestic LPG cylinder in the city now stands at Rs 1,002.
Before the price hike, a domestic cylinder cost Rs 952 in Hyderabad.
It's after almost four months the cost of domestic cylinder has been increased by the central government.
"In the last one year, the price increased by Rs 256. Since the government subsidy has also decreased to barely Rs 40 per cylinder, it seems on the higher side," said D
Ashok Kumar, president of Greater Hyderabad LPG Dealers Association.
Not just this, the cost of petrol and diesel too has increased by Rs 0.80 per litre, burning a hole in the consumers pocket. With this, petrol costs Rs 109.10 per litre and diesel costs Rs 95.50 per litre in Hyderabad.
"The fuel price hike will have a cascading effect on many sectors such as transportation. With work from office resuming, the rising cost of fuel will impact the salaried people significantly. Travelling to office will no longer be affordable," said
Mohan Babu, a graphic designer.
